In each newsletter, we will highlight online articles and videos about how Christians and/or churches are stepping up. This video from a Los Angeles television station highlights the work of a Los Angeles church feeding breakfast to children who normally would be fed at school. This article by Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council looks at how churches are partnering with food-related nonprofits to feed the vulnerable. Click on image to see the entire article. If you would like to see other articles on how coronavirus is affecting Christians and churches, Christianity Today is writing several each day. Rev. Dr. Roger Sharp Associate Pastor, Parkside Fellowship To: Parkside Fellowship Family
From: Pastor Doug, Pastor Roger, Parkside Fellowship Church Council Like many churches in our area and across the nation, Parkside Fellowship will not have services this Sunday, March 15. Because of the public health risk from the coronavirus, we are canceling all church services through March 29. While our congregation falls beneath the 250-person threshold public health officials have set for public gatherings, we feel it is wise to stay home for this reason. The majority of our congregation is at elevated risk from the virus because of age and health. State and local officials advise against gatherings that would include 10 or more people at elevated-risk, defined as those older than 60 or who have underlying health conditions. Members are highly encouraged to express your faith in care for one another and neighbors in this season. Pray for one another, call one another, check in with each other. If you want, you can organize small gatherings of people who live near you. To help you worship, Parkside will do these things during the quarantine period. 1. Each week we will email you a prayer and worship guide that you can use. Feel free to adjust or create your own. 2. We will provide sermons and distribute them online. For Sunday, March 15th, Pastor Doug will preach at 10am via Facebook Live on the Parkside Fellowship page: www.facebook.com/ParksideFellowship. We will then post the recorded video on Facebook at 11am and post the audio version as usual at www.parksidefellowship.org/sermons Please be in prayer for our church, community, state and nation in this difficult time. God works miracles in times like these. Should you need pastoral care during this time, Pastor Doug and Pastor Roger are available to meet you at the church or in your home. We want to care for you during this season. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 1 Timothy 2:7 NLT |
