This week's edition of TAB is meant to keep you updated on what's happening around our church campus over the next week.
It all begins tomorrow at 3:00pm, as we gather together for our all-church annual meeting. At this meeting, we will look back at how God has shaped our church for the future and look ahead at some of where we see God taking us in 2019. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the 2019 budget. Ballots to approve the 2019 budget will be available after the meeting and must be submitted by noon on Sunday. Speaking of Sunday, at our 9:15am service, we will wrap-up our series on Loving God......Loving Others. For this final week, my goal is to tie the past seven weeks together around one central theme......LOVE! Take some time over the next few days and read John 15; then, join us on Sunday at 9:15am and learn what it really looks like to be a loving church. At our 10:30am service, we kick-off a brand-new series called, Do All Roads Lead to God (Navigating the Multi-Faith Maze). Through-out this series, we will look at what other world religions teach and compare each with Christianity. My hope is to give you the opportunity to wrestle with the implications of a message that says all these outside faiths are missing the one crucial ingredient. On Thursday, both our Adults on Mission group and our Young @ Heart group will be meeting. I'm excited about our Adults on Mission meeting, as our newest editions to the Parkside Fellowship family, Charles and Diana Jordan will be sharing about their time spent as missionaries in Japan. This meeting begins at 10:30am and will be followed by our Young @ Heart lunch at noon. Please join us for both of these relationship-building opportunities. I hope to see you at one or all of these events over the next week. Have a great weekend, stay warm and as always.....see you Sunday! Pastor Doug First of all, I want to thank all of you who helped make this past week's Room 4 Hope a successful one. I know the families appreciated being able to stay on our campus and were overwhelmed by the amount of love and care that was shown to them by our church family. Also, I want to say a special "Thank You" to Brenda Rhine for being our Room 4 Hope Coordinator. This ministry would not happen without her efforts. In case you missed out on participating this past week, our next Room 4 Hope hosting week will be January 13-19. Please mark your calendars now and make plans to help us provide hope and love to families in our community who are experiencing homelessness.
This Thursday November 15th, our Adults on Mission and Young @ Heart ministries will be joining forces to provide us with a unique opportunity to hear about and pray for all that God is doing in the Pacific Northwest. The day begins at 10:30am as Lance Caddell will join us for our monthly Adults on Mission meeting. Lance works for the Northwest Baptist Convention in the area of church health. Don't miss this opportunity to hear from one of our Southern Baptist leaders. Once this meeting is over, we will move into a time of fellowship as we feast on Turkey and other delicious offerings. Please join us next Thursday as we gather together for a time of fellowship and thanking God for His many blessings. This Sunday at 9:15am, we will continue our focus on the book of Judges. This week, we will be in Judges 2 and 3, as we look at how quick and easy it is to choose one king over another. You might consider reading Joshua 24:14-28 and Judges 2-3 in preparation for our time together. In our 10:15am service, we will go on a road trip with Jesus as He is led by God into the wilderness for the sole purpose of being tempted by Satan. Now, why would God, who just a few verses earlier announced to the world that "this is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased", lead Jesus into the wilderness, not eat anything for 40 days and then invite Satan to come and tempt Him? Why would God do that? Join us on Sunday at 10:30am as we seek to answer this and other questions about the temptations we face. See you Sunday. Pastor Doug |
