Join us on Zoom

4/25/2020

Hi Parkside Fellowship Family.

First of all, I want to remind you to join us tomorrow (Sunday) morning at 10:00am for our online service.  As always, you can access our online service by going to our webpage, www.parksidefellowship.org.  Once you are on our home page, simply scroll down to where you see "SCHEDULE".  You can then click on either the "streaming on youtube" or "streaming on facebook" and you will be automatically directed to the service.  I hope to "see" all of you tomorrow at 10:00am.

In addition to our online Sunday service, I want to invite you to join us at 11:00am for our first zoom gathering.  Zoom is a online platform that allows individuals to connect via video. It is similar to using facetime on your phone. In order to use zoom, you need a computer or device with a webcam and microphone.

Parkside has set-up its own zoom account, so we can host meetings.  Our church council has already used zoom for these meetings.

There are two ways for you to join us.

1.  Set up a zoom account prior to the meeting.  Open the attachment below and follow the instructions for setting up your zoom account.  We have included step-by-step visuals.  Please allow 10 minutes to set up your account.  Once your account is set-up, simply join us by clicking on the meeting link Sunday at 11:00am.  Here is the link.  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87983709493.

2.  Click on the link below, approximately 5 minutes prior to the meeting and follow the prompts in order to install the application.  Here is the link for you to click on.  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87983709493.

I am hopeful that many of you will be able to join us for this unique gathering as we meet to encourage and pray for one another.

"See" you Sunday.

Essentials Drive on Thursday

4/21/2020

Hi Parkside Family.

As I mentioned this past Sunday, we had a great kick-off to our "Essentials" bag donation drive for families from Beaverton High School who are struggling to meet some basic needs.  We were able to put together around 150 bags.....amazing!!  Thanks to all those who donated financially, those who dropped off supplies and those who helped pack bags.

I wanted send out this short email to let you know that we will be collecting supplies and packing bags again this Thursday at Parkside, from 10:00am to 1:00pm.  Our goal is to have between 200 and 250 bags that we can deliver to the high school on Friday afternoon.  These bags will then be distributed to these families beginning next Monday.

Also, thank you for your continued financial support for the ministry of Parkside Fellowship.  It is encouraging to see our church family faithfully tithe, so that we can continue to fulfill our calling to spread the Gospel in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth.  Please note that due to our offices being closed and the trickle affect of receiving our church mail, we most likely will be making deposits on a monthly basis, as opposed to weekly.  If you have sent in a tithe check that has not yet cleared your bank, rest assured that we have received your check.  Again, the plan is to deposit checks on a monthly basis.  Thanks for your patience as we work to streamline this process.

Praying Together!

Parkside Fellowship Outreach to Beaverton Families

4/14/2020

Hi Parkside Family.

During our Good Friday service, I mentioned a unique opportunity for us to come alongside and support families from Beaverton High School who are struggling to meet some basic needs.
In speaking with Dr. Anne Erwin, the principal at Beaverton High School, she has asked if we might be able to provide some non-food related, but still essential items, that families are struggling to find or afford.
Several churches have stepped-up and are excited to work together to meet this growing need.  Each church will be responsible for providing a specific group of items to be handed out at the school.
Parkside has agreed to be the drop-off location for these items and is also where volunteers from these churches will gather (in groups of no more than 10 and who will be wearing masks and gloves), in order to assemble the items into individual family bags.
We will use safe procedures to pack these items and then we will take them to the high school for Club Hope Students to put out for families to pick up.
What can you do? Parkside has been asked to provide bath soap, deodorant, razors and shaving cream.
Again, these items can be safely dropped off at Parkside Fellowship, in the parking lot, beginning this Thursday, from 10:00am to 1:00pm.
Items that the other churches are collecting include detergent pods, feminine hygiene products, shampoo, TP, paper towels and Kleenex; if you would like, you are welcome to bring these items as well.
Please continue to pray for our church family, our neighbors and community, as we ask God for protection during this pandemic.

Seeking God's Glory Together.

Passion Week Devotionals

4/9/2020

Hi Parkside Family.

Just a quick email to let you know that today's devotional is ready to be viewed.  The reason I did not post it earlier is because I wanted you to watch it during the time when the most significant events of Maundy Thursday took place, which is in the evening.

Also, don't forget to join us tomorrow at 7:00pm for our online Good Friday service.

Praying with you.

Palm Sunday "Online"

4/4/2020

  Hi Parkside Family.

Well...I must admit I never imagined that I would be inviting you to our "online only" Palm Sunday service.  What an unprecedented time we find ourselves living in.  I trust that you and your family are staying safe and healthy during this time.  As always, please don't hesitate to contact either myself or Roger, should you need anything.

As I mentioned, this Sunday begins our journey together as we take a peek into the final week of Jesus' life on earth.  As Jesus prepares to enter Jerusalem, his triumphal entry is a culmination of a long road that began, not in Jericho.  It didn't begin in Galilee.  It didn't begin in Nazareth.  It didn't even begin in Bethlehem. The final week in the life of Jesus here on earth began long before.  As Adam strolled the orchards of the garden, Jesus was on his way to Calvary.  Jesus took his first step toward Jerusalem with God in his heart.

Today, I feel a little bit like Jesus must have felt as he rode through the East Gate, knowing what painful encounters were on the horizon.  As health experts continue to predict that things will continue to get worse before they get better, what lesson can we learn from how Jesus handled his final week.  As Jesus rode into the heart of the lion's den, he did so claiming the promises of his Heavenly Father.  Let me share a few of these with you.
  1. When you are confused:  "I know the plans I have for you", says the Lord.  "I have good plans for you."
  2. If you feel weighted by yesterday's  failures:  "So now, those who are in Christ Jesus are not judged guilty."
  3. On those nights when you wonder where God is:  "I am the Holy One, and I am among you."
  4. If you think you can fall beyond God's love:  "Understand the greatness of God's love--how wide and how long and how high and how deep that love is."

Tomorrow, when you find yourself marching toward your own Jerusalem, filled with worry, fear and anxiety, put the promises of God on your lips.

Remember to join us on Sunday morning at 10:00am for Parkside Fellowship Online.  We will be focusing our time on the story of the Triumphal Entry of Jesus from Luke 19:28-42.

The easiest way to view the sermon each Sunday is to go to our website, parksidefellowship.org.  On our home, about halfway down the page is a link to either youtube or facebook. Simply click on one of the links and you will be automatically directed to the sermon.

Hope to "see" you tomorrow.
