Paul certainly proved himself a prophet when he wrote: "For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths." II Timothy 4:3-4
Could Peter, Paul, Jude and others really have lived in the first century? Sounds like society in the first century was simply put on repeat. Jude 5-16 portrays a staggering honest truth about God and how he deals with those who seek to deceive and manipulate the truths of God's Word for their own pleasure. You might title this Sunday's message: When God Gets Angry. God's anger and judgment are not popular topics to address, especially in today's culture, and if I'm honest with you, teaching these aspects of God's character brings me some anxiety. So, if no one wants to hear messages taught on God's anger and judgment, and if teaching these topics brings me anxiety...then why do it? The world of Jude's time was filled with false teachers who lead people astray from God's love and God's laws. Sound familiar? Jude's short but powerful letter helps to expose the sobering reality of false teaching, describes several ways for us to be equipped for the fight, and explains how to engage those who have been led astray by deception. Join us Sunday at 9:30am, as we continue our short, yet eye-opening, journey through the book of Jude. We will also take a moment in our service to remember and honor the brave men and women who have sacrificed greatly for our country. Take time this weekend to thank God for the freedom we have because of the price that was paid by Jesus on the cross and by those who served on the battlefield so that you and I can live free. Finally, this week, Martha Bailey will conclude her class on Keeping It Simple, as she leads a discussion on performing simplicity. Thank you Martha for the time and work you have put into helping all of us...keep it simple! MEMORIAL SERVICES AT PARKSIDE FELLOWSHIP: This next week, we will be hosting two memorial services here on our church campus. Below are the details: On Wednesday, June 1st at Noon, we will gather together to remember and celebrate the life of Sandra Shipman (Jeanette Moore's sister). This special time of remembrance will take place at Noon in our Worship Center. On Saturday, June 4th, at 2:00pm, the Law family would like to extend an invitation to join with them as they celebrate the life of Jean Law. This service will also take place in our Worship Center at 2:00pm. Please keep the Moore and Law family in your prayers as they mourn the loss of close family members. See you Sunday.
